Microdermabrasion

Parisian Peels, commonly known as microdermabrasion, use micro crystals that are vacuumed across your skin through a delicate hand piece. The procedure exfoliates the dead cells into the epidermis, stimulating your own collagen thereby stimulating the structures of the skin and rejuvenating the skin.

Microdermabrasion is a safe, non-surgical, comprehensive approach to skin care. There is usually no down time and consequently the procedure is referred to as the “lunch time peel”. You will notice improvement of the texture, tone, and clarity of your skin. It gives you a “natural healthy glow.”

Microdermabrasion may be beneficial in treating the following conditions:

  • Sun damaged skin
  • Large pores
  • Acne scars and acne prone skin
  • Oily Skin
  • Age spots
  • Dry, dull skin

Depending on your skin condition and desired results, you may require between five and six treatments. To learn more about microdermabrasion, contact our office in Connecticut today!

Chemical Peels

BIOMEDIC MICROPEEL® 20%-30%

The skin is first treated with dermaplaning. Dermaplaning is a procedure in which the dead cellular layer is gently brushed away (exfoliation) using a fine blade, a technique popularized by Biomedic since 1991.

A light film of 20%-30% glycolic acid is then gently applied to the skin. The glycolic solutions are made from sugar cane. When first applied to the skin, you will experience a tingling sensation that will resolve quickly. After a short period of time the acid is neutralized and the reaction stops. The skin is left pink, soft, youthful and radiant.

Biomedic Micropeel® is another safe, non-invasive procedure that aids in improving texture, tone, and clarity of skin and gives you that “natural healthy glow.” Fine lines and wrinkles will become less noticeable with little or no downtime.

For very sensitive skin, an enzyme procedure (a unique papaya-based mask) or an acid-free Lactic acid solution (made from milk products) can be applied. THE MICRO PEEL PLUS

The Micro Peel Plus is designed to refine skin texture damaged by environmental factors and skin conditions such as acne. This peel is also used to treat oily skin. It is available in two concentrations of salicylic acid (20%-30%). Salicylic acid, a beta hydroxy acid, is found naturally in bark of willow tree, wintergreen leaves, and sweet birch bark. Formulations containing high concentrations of salicylic acid help slough off dead cells and debris while stimulating the skin’s naturally renewal process.

One minute after application you may experience some slight tingling sensations, which feels like an immediate small sunburn.

Two to three minutes after application, your level of discomfort will reach a peak and then quickly diminish. Once the optimal level of salicylic acid has been deposited, the solution automatically becomes inactive. The skin is then gently rinsed. Within days blemishes will usually begin to diminish. SKIN MEDICA-VITALIZE PEEL

The Skin Medica-Vitalize Peel brings together the benefits of alpha-hydroxy and retinoic acids to create one of the strongest but safest and gentlest peels. The renewal process has been clinically proven to help pigmentation problems (such as age spots) fade and stimulate collagen production in cells underneath. You will begin to notice a dramatic improvement in your skin’s texture and tone, a decrease of superficial lines, and a healthier, more youthful look and feel.

The Skin Medica-Vitalize Peel is safe and gentle for all types of skin. A prepping solution is applied, followed by the peeling solution, which in some cases may be repeated. You may experience some mild tingling or warmth for one to three minutes. This discomfort can be easily relieved by the use of a hand fan.

The next step is the application of Retinoic acid. When this is done, a yellow tinge will appear on the skin that will disappear within an hour of the procedure.

Within 48 hours you will notice a mild flaking that can be controlled with moisturizer. For more information on the Skin Medica-Vitalize Peel, contact The Plastic Surgery Center in Connecticut today!

REFINITY PEELS, TOPIX PEELS AND DDF PEELS

The Refinity Peel, Topix Peel, and DDF Peel utilize glycolic acid and range in concentration from 30%-70%. Patients with thicker skin might gradually increase to the above procedures. A pre-peel conditioner is used to prep the skin, and an application of glycolic acid is applied. The skin is monitored closely for any erythema (redness). A hand fan is used to cool the skin and comfort the patient. A post-peel neutralizer is then applied. Small amounts of fine peeling of the skin epidermis may occur in some patients. For more information on Refinity Peels, Topix Peels, or DDF Peels, contact The Plastic Surgery Center serving Glastonbury, Hartford, and the New Haven, Connecticut area.

TCA PEELS (TRICHLOROACETIC ACID)

With the TCA Peel, there will be a certain amount of recovery time depending on the strength of the solution. These procedures are for clients that want to take a more aggressive approach to rejuvenating their skin. These treatments usually require less treatments (sometimes only one) than the glycolic acid peels.

There is a certain amount of discomfort associated with the procedures, and the increases with the strength of the solution. You will have peeling of the skin and therefore complete avoidance of the sun is required.

These peels can greatly lighten hyper pigmentation, soften facial lines and wrinkles and leave you with refreshed pink skin.
